Profile: The mission at Jamon Montessori Day School (JMDS) is to provide a quality education for children ages 2–6 years old, using the Montessori method to enable them to develop social, emotional, physical, and intellectual skills in accordance to their abilities. JMDS is committed to maintaining a safe, caring, and peaceful environment that fosters a partnership between the child, the school, and home.

JMDS was established in 1995 by Lisa Pena, head of school. The school was conveniently relocated to the Colesville section of Silver Spring, Md., in 1996 and is proud to serve the Washington, D.C., metropolitan community. JMDS is a school of international flavor that celebrates the cultural differences and similarities of the world.

Our curriculum includes the areas of practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics, science, world studies, art expression, field trips, and more. Children can also participate in Spanish, art enrichment, percussion lessons, and passion soccer. We also offer a Spanish immersion portion of the day to our primary students and also a wonderful STEM enrichment program for our extended day students.

The JMDS community is a family made up of wonderful students, a nurturing staff, and supportive families.
