Profile: Christ Episcopal School offers preschool (starting with 2-year-olds) through grade 8 and is located in the historic area of downtown Rockville near the town center. Three buildings on the school campus serve the different divisions (preschool, lower school, and middle school), with the preschool house providing safe, nurturing, and engaging classrooms for our 2-year-olds (Turtles), 3-year-olds (Bears), and pre-K students (Bugs).

The inquiry-based preschool program emphasizes developmentally appropriate learning activities and problem-solving skills. Learning is viewed as an interactive process, with the preschoolers using materials and engaging in activities that are meaningful to them. The school day consists of a rich variety of activities, including art; music; movement; creative indoor and outdoor play; discussion; story time; and readiness activities for reading, math, social studies, and science.

While providing a strong preschool program, highly experienced teachers nurture children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, encouraging children to develop self-esteem and independence.
